From August through early January, 633 teachers resigned from the Houston Independent School District, according to information obtained by Houston Public Media through a public records request. During the same time period in the 2022-23 school year, 331 teachers quit. The year before, only 309 resigned.

Not really. I think we got lucky in that regard because we prepared for a decision knowing the court’s makeup and the fact that it was willing to overturn precedent. We had predicted that the justices would essentially overturn the affirmative action rulings that the court had made earlier. There was some guesswork that went into that, but also a lot of reporting.
